Todo esto se hizo realidad cuando el joven Elie Saab comenzó
sus andaduras en el mundo de la moda confeccionando vestidos para sus hermanas
y cuando a sus tempranos 18 años decidió abrir su propio taller en su ciudad
natal, Beirut (Líbano). Su talento era innegable cuando después de presentar su
primera colección, llama la atención de la alta sociedad de Oriente Medio.
Pocos años después, comienza a hacerse oír en Occidente, y todos sabemos el
resto… Convertido en uno de los mejores diseñadores, codeándose con las grandes
casas de moda y cada día más aclamado por las mujeres de medio mundo.
Elie destaca por ser un amante de los tejidos ligeros y suntuosos
que realzan la feminidad a través de brillos, piedras semi-preciosas, exquisitas
telas, estilos vaporosos y delicados bordados de gran calidad. Minuciosos
detalles que requieren horas de trabajo artesanal en cada pieza.
La influencia de su cultura se puede observar en cada
creación, siendo evidente su sensibilidad hacia el estilo oriental y la calidez
de los colores que utiliza, además del aspecto sensual y dramático de sus
vestidos que parecen sacados de historias fantásticas.
Sin duda, la mezcla entre tradición, minimalismo en los
cortes y un leve toque de modernidad, le dan a sus vestidos un aire de
sobriedad y lujo que le han llevado hasta su merecido puesto entre los grandes
diseñadores de la alta costura, pareciendo sus creaciones auténticas obras de
arte.
Desde que descubrí a Elie Saab hace unos años, se convirtió
en mi diseñador favorito. Todos conocemos las grandes casas de renombre por las
que han pasado magníficos diseñadores y otros, para mi gusto, no tanto; y
también sabemos lo difícil que es hacerse un hueco en el mundo de la moda. Pero
que Elie Saab haya llegado hasta aquí no me ha resultado extraño debido a su
gran talento y a su fuerte apuesta por reafirmar en valor las formas de la
mujer, y como él mismo dice, hacerlas sentir únicas y especiales en cada uno de
sus vestidos.

Since I discovered Elie Saab a few years ago, he became my favorite designer. We all know the great renowned houses where have gone great designers and others, for my taste, not so much; and we also know how difficult it is to break into the fashion world. But that Elie Saab has come to here, it's not strange because of his great talent and his strong commitment to reaffirm the value the ways of women, and as he says, make them feel unique and special in each one of his dresses.
